Koofers has always been committed to helping college students across the country succeed in school.
While we serve over 1,000,000 college students nationwide, the state of Virginia will always hold a special place in our heart.
Back in 2006, we started at Virginia Tech and quickly grew to over 10,000 users. The original intention of Koofers was to simply provide students with equal access to study materials.
Our mission is to serve college students throughout their academic careers, and in the past few years, students have struggled to transition from being a student to finding a job. Therefore, we launched a campus recruiting product to help students figure out various avenues of employment, but also to help employers connect with students. Think of it as sort of like a “virtual career fair” with the sole purpose of giving students more ways to connect with potential employers.
Because we are committed to helping students find a job, we are honored to announce our sponsorship of Senator Mark Warner’s Young Professional Summit set to take place on March 29th from 9:30am-4:30pm at the school where Koofers started, Virginia Tech.
At the event, we will be taking professional pictures of students and young professionals, and Koofers CEO, Michael Rihani, will be speaking on a panel titled, “Land the Job You Want - Resume and Interview Tips from HR Professionals.”
The way students secure an entry level job has drastically changed. Currently, there are over 500,000 unpaid interns in the workforce, amounting for over $2 billion dollars in lost wages. In addition, over 53% of those 25 and younger with a bachelor’s degree are unemployed or underemployed, yet there are over 4 million job openings nationwide.
To solve the skills gap, students need to know where to go. And, this is why Senator Mark Warner launched his Young Professional Summit a few years ago.
And, this is also what motivates Koofers. Just like Senator Mark Warner, we are passionate about helping students find jobs.
